I'm weirdly obsessed with making playlists that fit different little scenarios in my head. Coming-of-age movie? Yep. 80's vibes? Done. Dark academia? Of course. But my favorite one has got to be none other than my classical music playlists. Yep, I've got more than one. That's because classical music can fit into so many different categories (chilling, romantic, relaxing, etc), and I'm here to share my favorite pieces from each playlist. They're separated into categories. Enjoy :)

Also, it's good for you, trust me. A GAME OF THRONES by: George R.R. Martin Genre: Fantasy Synopsis: Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King’s Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert’s name. There his family dwells in peace and comfort: his proud wife, Catelyn; his sons Robb, Brandon, and Rickon; his daughters Sansa and Arya; and his bastard son, Jon Snow. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse—unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances. Now Robert is riding north to Winterfell, bringing his queen, the lovely but cold Cersei, his son, the cruel, vainglorious Prince Joffrey, and the queen’s brothers Jaime and Tyrion of the powerful and wealthy House Lannister—the first a swordsman without equal, the second a dwarf whose stunted stature belies a brilliant mind. All are heading for Winterfell and a fateful encounter that will change the course of kingdoms. Meanwhile, across the Narrow Sea, Prince Viserys, heir of the fallen House Targaryen, which once ruled all of Westeros, schemes to reclaim the throne with an army of barbarian Dothraki—whose loyalty he will purchase in the only coin left to him: his beautiful yet innocent sister, Daenerys. (copied from Barnes and Noble's website) Jesus...why is a synopsis so long??? Anyways, most of you have probably watched the show, but I still think giving the book series a shot is worth it. There's so much more detail, and many more backstories! My Rating: 5/5 stars! ~ THREE DARK CROWNS series by: Kendare Blake Genre: Fantasy Synopsis: "In every generation on the island of Fennbirn, a set of triplets is born—three queens, all equal heirs to the crown and each possessor of a coveted magic. Mirabella is a fierce elemental, able to spark hungry flames or vicious storms at the snap of her fingers. Katharine is a poisoner, one who can ingest the deadliest poisons without so much as a stomachache. Arsinoe, a naturalist, is said to have the ability to bloom the reddest rose and control the fiercest of lions. But becoming the Queen Crowned isn’t solely a matter of royal birth. Each sister has to fight for it. And it’s not just a game of win or lose…it’s life or death. The night the sisters turn sixteen, the battle begins. The last queen standing gets the crown." (from Goodreads) Okay, this book series is definitely one of my favs of all time. There's romance, action, fantastical powers...and so on. I think the author has already released 5 books or so? I've only read 3, so I need to catch up! Seriously, READ IT. My Rating: 5/5 stars! ~ ALsoTHE FINAL SIX by: Alexandra Monir Genre: Sci-Fi Synopsis: "When Leo, an Italian championship swimmer, and Naomi, a science genius from California, are two of the twenty-four teens drafted into the International Space Training Camp, their lives are forever altered. After erratic climate change has made Earth a dangerous place to live, the fate of the population rests on the shoulders of the final six who will be scouting a new planet. Intense training, global scrutiny, and cutthroat opponents are only a few of the hurdles the contestants must endure in this competition. For Leo, the prospect of traveling to Europa—Jupiter’s moon—to help resettle humankind is just the sense of purpose he’s been yearning for since losing his entire family in the flooding of Rome. Naomi, after learning of a similar space mission that mysteriously failed, suspects the ISTC isn’t being up front with them about what’s at risk. As the race to the final six advances, the tests get more challenging—even deadly. With pressure mounting, Naomi finds an unexpected friend in Leo, and the two grow closer with each mind-boggling experience they encounter. But it’s only when the finalists become fewer and their destinies grow nearer that the two can fathom the full weight of everything at stake: the world, the stars, and their lives." (from GoodReads) Another long synopsis sorry lol...But I really like this book! The story is actually super cool and creative! It's also got pretty good rep, woo! It read this book so quickly because I was SO into it. And the author recently released the sequel! My Rating: 4/5 stars! ~ WE ALL LOOKED UP by: Tommy Wallach Genre: YA Synopsis: "Before the asteroid we let ourselves be defined by labels: The athlete, the outcast, the slacker, the overachiever. But then we all looked up and everything changed. They said it would be here in two months. That gave us two months to leave our labels behind. Two months to become something bigger than what we'd been, something that would last even after the end. Two months to really live." (from GoodReads) This book was genuinely enjoyable. And seeing each teen differentiate a lot...it's great! My rating: 4/5 stars ~ ALL THE BRIGHT PLACES by: Jennifer Niven
Genre: YA Synopsis: "Theodore Finch is fascinated by death, and he constantly thinks of ways he might kill himself. But each time, something good, no matter how small, stops him. Violet Markey lives for the future, counting the days until graduation, when she can escape her Indiana town and her aching grief in the wake of her sister’s recent death. When Finch and Violet meet on the ledge of the bell tower at school, it’s unclear who saves whom. And when they pair up on a project to discover the “natural wonders” of their state, both Finch and Violet make more important discoveries: It’s only with Violet that Finch can be himself—a weird, funny, live-out-loud guy who’s not such a freak after all. And it’s only with Finch that Violet can forget to count away the days and start living them. But as Violet’s world grows, Finch’s begins to shrink." (from GoodReads) This is hands down my favorite book ever. They recently released the adaptation on Netflix, but I really recommend reading the book because it is SO much better. This book will mess you up. My rating: 5/5 stars! ~ Let me know in the comments if you've read or decide to read any of these! What'd you think of them? :) Synopsis: Las Encinas is the most exclusive school in the country- where the Elite sends their children to study. In there, three working-class teens have just been admitted after an earthquake destroyed their school. The clash between those who have everything and those who have nothing to lose creates a perfect storm that ends in a murder. Who committed the crime? (copied from IMBD)
Seasons: 3 (just got picked up for 2 more) Where to watch: Netflix! Warnings (for anyone who may need it): Does include lots of sexual content, drug/alcohol consumption, swearing, etc. ~ My Review! (spoiler free): Elite is amazing! Let's just start with that. Set in Spain, this show is obviously in Spanish. I recommend just using English subtitles (do not turn on English audio! It ruins it...trust me). The best thing about this show, in my opinion, is the fact that it somehow gets even better each season. The characters are each so unique and compelling in their own way, and the dynamics between them always have you paying attention. There's characters you hate, then end up loving. And others that you love, and end up hating. Elite does that, and I love it. None of the characters are perfect in any way (I'm talking personality wise because physically, they all look absolutely God-like. I'm not kidding...ALL OF THEM), and each one has their own little plot going on. In the first season, it reveals someone at Las Encinas was murdered, and as a watcher, you try to figure out who did it and why. Throughout the episodes, they give you little glimpses and hints of how the murder unraveled. The entire first seasons leads up, slowly but surely, to the actual murder. And I don't know about y'all, but my guessing was SO OFF. I was sitting in shock by the last episode. The rest of the seasons each about their own mystery plot, but it's all tied with the murder from S1. Trust me, it makes more sense when you watch it. Elite truly never bores you. There's always something exciting happening, whether it'd be clues to the murder, their entertaining dance scenes at the club, new romances kindling, and so on. And a bonus: the show has great representation! A lot of LGBTQ+ rep, a Muslim student, HIV story line (but I won't say who because...spoiler), and just a lot of important conversations. Please, please watch it! I promise you, you will not regret it. MY RATING: 4.5/5 STARS! Comment below if you've watched it, and let me know your thoughts about it! Okay, quarantine can be a real pain in the ass, I know. For as long as I've known, movies have been my most comforting form of passing time. Whether I wanna watch a new Academy nominated film, or watch a nostalgic Disney movie...I'm down for whatever. Hopefully this list of all kinds of movies I love will help you relax and get through these difficult times! Stay safe my loves. (And make sure to read the captions on each movie so you can get a gist of what it's like!) My letterboxd account, where you can see the movies I've watched/reviews/ratings! |
